International Mersey River Festival 2016
With BBC Radio Merseyside

Liverpool will once again be taking part in BBC Music Day on Friday June 3rd 2016 and will be a showcase for BBC Music Introducing talent – with an evening of emerging and established bands such as Natalie McCool, The Sundowners, Cavalry, Tea Street Band, Louis Berry and Clean Cut Kid. BBC 6 Music DJ Huey Morgan will headline the event with a two hour DJ set.
BBC Music Day will take place as part of the International Mersey River Festival - a celebration of Liverpool’s waterfront in a free three day extravaganza of family fun and entertainment along their iconic river.
As well as the musical line up, there’ll be a host of creative workshops and entertainment for the whole family.

As part of Cafe Concerts for BBC Music Day Leaf Cafe in Liverpool will be hosting a day of free performances. Performing live will be:

Nick Ellis
Currently based in Liverpool, Nick Ellis blends streetscape narrative-noir with a classic British acoustic approach. Using a blend of rhythmic attack and finger-quick lucidity, his sound has been described as “a conversation between Elvis Costello and John Martyn.”
Alx Green
Alx is a compelling singer-songwriter from North West England. He fuses folk music with dynamic vocals, invigorating melodies and percussive finger-tapping.
Eleanor Nelly
Eleanor Nelly is a 16 year old singer-songwriter from Liverpool. In the past 3 years Eleanor has played numerous venues, events and festivals all over the country. She released her debut EP Insane & Loved last November.
Silent Cities
Silent Cities is the alias of experimental recording artist, Simon Maddison. Frequently play-listed on BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing, Simon uses natural acoustics with a soaring falsetto combined with ethereal synthesised soundscapes to create his sound.

The bridge aboard the Mersey Ferry will play host to The Button Street Badger Band who will perform traditional sea shanties as the ferry shuttles commuters between the communities of the Wirral and Liverpool.
The Mersey Ferry is the latest in a long line of boats that have shuttled across the Mersey since the Benedictine monks began a service. It was given a royal charter by Edward III in 1330.
