Di Chief Judge of di Federal High Court for Abuja, Justice John Tsoho, don reassign anoda judge for di ongoing court trial of Nnamdi Kanu, di leader of di secessionist group Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob).

Kanu don dey State Security Service (SSS) custody since 2021 - e dey face seven-count charges bordering on terrorism.

On February 10, Kanu para say make Justice Binta Nyako wash her hand comot from im trial as e accuse her of "bias".

For September 2024, Justice Nyako bin withdraw from di case but di Chief Judge of di Federal High Court reassign di maa to di judge again, and na dis make Kanu vex during di last court sitting.

Inside one statement wey Kanu lawyer Aloy Ejimakor release on Saturday, e tok say dem don finally grant im client anoda judge but im no mention di name of di judge.

Di lawyer tok say im client dey ready to prove im innocence but di events of di past six months pose danger to im client constitutional rights, particularly im right to fair and speedy hearing.

Ejimakor tok say dem seek alternative measures to ensure say im case dey properly assigned and conducted in line wit di law.

Wen BBC Pidgin reach out to Kanu legal team on what next for di Ipob leader, Ejimakor tok say dem dey wait for hearing notice and dem go carry on wit di case afterwards.

"We dey wait for hearing notice; den we go take am from dia," e tok.

About di name of di judge, Ejimakor tell BBC Pidgin say, "For good reasons, I decide say make di identity of di judge no dey disclosed for now."

Inside di statement, Ejimakor tok say dem also collect anoda letter from di Honourable Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun.

"Yesterday, bifor di legal team conduct our routine visitation to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, we receive two separate official letters regarding im case. Di letters dey momentous and somewhat pyrrhic," e tok.

"One letter na from di Honourable Chief Justice of Nigeria, wey dey respond to recent letter wey we don write to am, seeking fast administrative intervention (as di administrative head of Nigerian judiciary) on di mata of proper and lawful reassignment of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu case, following di recusal of di judge wey dey conduct am."

Ejimakor tok say Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and im legal team dey ready for di preparation of im defence while im thank di Chief Justice of Nigeria, Chief Judge of di Federal High Court and di general public for dia support.
