You've been DJ'ing for many years - what keeps you going?
The love of music! The day I stop feeling the music will be the day I hang up my cans.

The dance scene has really evolved since the boom in the 80's/early 90's - how do you see the next ten years?
I think its going to back underground again. Nowadays you can make your own music for next to nothing using things like REASON / ACID / CUBASE etc. in your own home means there is a lot of music about, a lot of it is pap, but there is a lot of new interesting stuff about too. Years ago if you wanted to make a tune, you would probably go to a studio and pay an engineer to realise your ideas into a track.

Because there are so many people doing their own things now, means that new techniques and styles are emerging creating new sounds. I think the trancey Euro Pop sound will stay the COMMERCIAL sound of dance, and the new styles / sounds will keep the underground exciting.

What do you see as the essence of your success?
Playing to the people - You've got to play what people want to hear, people need familiarity mixed up with new stuff. You can't turn up to play a date with a bag of tunes no one has ever heard. We try to mix it up with old gems and new tracks. I suppose being around at the right time helped too. We always used to play at house parties and doing clubs was the next step. We started doing FREE 2 DANCE on TUESDAYS at UCLSU, in about '94 I think, for Tim and George from Feel, and did Saturdays at the legendary CHEEKY MONKEYS on Cannon St.

When Cheeky Monkeys shut in 96, we started up GREEN where we resided for a good 2 years, until we were asked to take over from the LUV DUPS to host the Funky Room at FEEL.
It's hard to break onto this scene at the moment, so many DJ's fighting for only so many nights, so being in the right place at the right time definitely helped.

Where have you travelled to DJ?
London- THE END, Eden - IBIZA, Bed - Sheffield… talk of dates in Estonia and Italy this year, but the north of England mainly. 5. What clubs would you like to play and why? I would really love to play in PACHA in IBIZA, it's a proper club, one where the people who are there are SERIOUSLY into the music and will appreciate a dj. The sound system is superb and every time I've been in there, I've had a really good night

Who is your music legend?
James Brown, if he hadn't have been around, music as we know it wouldn't exist. There would be no funk - it doesn't bear thinking about really.

Ibiza - dead and buried, or ready to fight another day?
Depends where you go - there are still loads of top little events on the island that remain "undiscovered" but as soon as the rave kids hear about them they will be secret no more.
I really really like Ibiza, I would LOVE to say ready to fight another day, but then I think of the west end….ugh!

Tip for the top - what's shaking and breaking? Ross Couch, a new track just been signed to Danos' "Red Melon" label called LA MUZIKA, Seriously dope!!!

Who to watch - what DJs, labels and artists are heading for the top?
Ciudad Feliz (a.k.a. Silver city/Julian & Fernando amongst other things) are everywhere at the moment. We (SHABOOM) have signed 2 tracks, new Manchester label 3AM have signed some, 20:20 vision have had them as Silver city for a while now, definitely a couple of lads to watch.
