YMCA FC

All the action from YMCA FC...

UNDER 11s:

FLEETWOOD TOWN 3 YMCA 4

This was an entertaining game but a fair result in the end. In the first half Jordan W and Christian H linked up well down the left with Carl K with Bradley G dominant throughout.

YMCA took a deserved lead through Jack C who was always menacing up front and he netted after a blocked shot from James R but a lapse in concentration led to an equaliser with a great finish from the home teams left-winger. YMCA restored the lead though when a through ball from Christian H found Jack C who scored with a clever finish. However, a YMCA lapse again gifted Town a 2nd leveller and it was 2-2 at the break.

In the second half, YMCA bombarded the home keeper who made numerous saves throughout and Christian H also hit the bar before YM went 3-2 ahead with Matty S on target. Bradley G then scored a deserved goal to further YMCA’s lead before the home side pulled one back to create a tense finish. Johnny A shone in an excellent and gutsy YMCA team performance.

UNDER 12s:

YMCA 8 FLEETWOOD TOWN 1

A brilliant second half performance saw YMCA inflict this emphatic defeat over title rivals Fleetwood at Seafield Road on Sunday. The first half was evenly matched with YMCA opening the scoring with a neatly taken goal by Linus W and Fleetwood equalising shortly afterwards with a header from a corner. In the second half YMCA's slick passing game created a bagful of openings and goals from Linus W, Jordan B and Jack D put the game beyond Fleetwood's reach. YMCA were now rampant and further goals from Linus W, Jamie M, Harvey R and Ben C completed the rout. Sean K was outstanding in YMCA's midfield.

UNDER 14s:

YMCA 0 FLEETWOOD TOWN 12

Plucky YMCA were no match for a strong Fleetwood outfit at a cold and raw Seafield Rd last Sunday and they did well to keep going until the end as sleet and hail made conditions very unpleasant. The visitors were always in control and the scored six times in each half. Kieran K was outstanding for YMCA with Mattie K, Dave M and Jack B all notable also.

UNDER 15s:

WARTON TYPHOONS 0 YMCA 8

YMCA took the lead in the 2nd minute when Harry H finished off a flowing move by hitting the net from 20 yards. Lloyd P made it 2-0 when he chested the ball down before firing past the keeper from 8 yards and he added a third when he latched onto a quick throw-in and fired home. YMCA continued to dominate but a gritty Warton team battled hard and it remained 3-0 at the break and YMCA added five further goals. Tom M applied the final touch to a Harry H free kick before Josh V slotted past the keeper after a good run. Harry H scored his second from a free kick before Lloyd P completed his hat-trick. An Oscar R goal rounded off the scoring in this excellent team performance by new champions YMCA.

UNDER 18s:

NEW LONGTON ROVERS 0 YMCA 1

After the midweek LEP Youth Trophy Final victory it was back to league action for YMCA with a trip to title rivals New Longton and this victory leaves YMCA now requiring just one more win from their remaining three matches to secure the league title. YMCA started in determined fashion with skipper Matthew R influential in the middle of midfield and his cross was headed just wide by the lively Max R after 11 minutes. In the 24th minute a Matthew R cross was knocked down into the path of Dan H by Max R, and Dan H turned neatly before coolly slotting the ball home from 12 yards and Matthew R then shot narrowly wide just before the break. The second half followed a similar pattern with YMCA controlling most of the play and New Longton looking dangerous when they went forward. However, despite further near misses from Jordan D, Matty W and Matthew R the score remained unchanged at the final whistle. An excellent battling performance from YMCA with Jack M and James I solid in the YMCA rearguard.

GIRLS U10s:

INTER MILL HILL 2 YMCA 0

YMCA tried to regain the second place spot which they had held most of the season and they dominated the first half creating many chances on goal but to no avail. Unfortunately, after 10 mins Inter Mill Hill scored from a corner after the ball rebounded off a YMCA defender and into the net.

YMCA, though, continued to display great determination in trying to find an equaliser. Shortly before half time Inter struck again, this time with the ball going in off the far post into the net just beyond the reach of the outstanding YMCA keeper Ellie M.

The second half followed a similar pattern to the first with YMCA still showing excellent spirit and their best chance came when Olivia H struck the ball through a crowd of players only for the home keeper to make an incredible save.

In this very gutsy YMCA display Chyna A and Natasha L were both very notable in defence.

UNDER 17s GIRLS:

Lytham St.Annes YMCA 4-6 Penwortham North

The home side, hit by injuries, began the game with ten men and fell behind to a 4th minute goal. YMCA equalised, though, through the outstanding Millie B 10 minutes later when a clearance came to her 25 yards out and she chipped the ball over the keeper.

YMCA then took the lead on the half hour mark when Chloe L played a long ball out of defence which Millie took on, evaded a challenge then struck a ferocious shot across the goal and into the bottom corner.

Title rivals Penwortham though were always a threat and levelled the scores again after 38 minutes and it was 2-2 at the break.

Captain Amanda P picked up an injury and had to go off for treatment and this blow in the heart of defence seriously affected YMCA. They conceded four goals in the space of 13 minutes. YMCA though grew in stature when Amanda P returned to the action and with 15 minutes left Ellie C switched play with a great ball to Amy C on the right wing whose cross in found Robyn T who fired into the top left corner.

YMCA pulled back another goal 5 minutes from time through Charlie C who latched on to a ball from Emma B and slotted the ball into the net. Despite more opportunities YMCA were unable to add to their score.
