YMCA B 1 LYTHAM JUN B 0
This local derby played at Seafield Rd last Saturday provided high entertainment in both games on a very unpleasant morning. In the A game clear cut chances were rare at both ends of the field with both defences displaying great commitment and a draw was probably a fair result in the end. Amy S and Chyna A were both notable for YMCA. The B game followed a similar pattern and it remained goalless at the break. However, YMCA managed to clinch victory with a 2nd half strike by Dan H. Fred S was always a threat down the right for YMCA with Reece M and Declan H both giving solid display at the back.

These two title-chasing local rivals met head-on at Lytham last Saturday and it was the home team who came out of top by taking all six points after two hard fought and excellent encounters. In the A it was YMCA who created most of the clear-cut chances but with a combination of poor finishing and bad luck they failed to break through the home team’s rearguard and a 1st half strike by Sullivan B proved enough to give Lytham victory. James H and Owen F both impressed in a hard working YMCA team display.
In the B game Lytham got off to a flying start with Alex T scoring twice in the opening minutes and he completed his hat trick just before the interval to make it 3-0. This 3-goal deficit was always going to be difficult for YMCA although they still showed commendable spirit without managing to break through a resolute Lytham rearguard. Mattie J and Josh C both had fine games for YMCA.
11-A-SIDE
All YMCA’s scheduled games in the Blackpool & District Youth League and the North Valley Girls League fell victims to the weather last Sunday as 90% of the fixtures in both leagues were postponed due to waterlogged pitches.
