YMCA FC

By Lozz Rose
Lytham St Annes YMCA Football club completed a fantastic double achievement at Seafield Rd on a sunny spring evening at Seafield Rd.

UNDER 12:

KIRKHAM 1 YMCA 6

The under 12’s put in a strong performance in very warm conditions at Kirkham on Sunday. Jordan B opened the scoring early in the first half but the visitors could not add to their tally with Jack D, Liam R and Jordan B all going close. Matthew M pulled off a fine save to keep YMCA in the lead. Just after the interval Jordan B bagged his second with a well taken solo effort before Ryan A scored from close range. The home side pulled a goal back with a penalty before a Jack D double strike and a well taken Ryan A goal sealed the points. Fraser M had an outstanding game in the YMCA midfield.

UNDER 13s:

SQUIRES GATE 5 YMCA 1

YMCA started very brightly against league leaders Gate at School Rd last Sunday and following a good move down the right they took the lead in the 4th minute through Jack H. Play remained evenly balanced but Gate cashed in on a defensive error and levelled in the 20th minute. Just before half time the home side went in front with a speculative 20yd shot and YMCA were a little unlucky to go in at the break 1-2 behind. The early stages of the 2nd half remained even but Gate went further ahead 10 minutes after the restart with an excellent 25yd drive into the top corner. After this further setback YMCA never really looked like saving the game and they allowed themselves to be out-muscled by Gate who added two more goals before the end. Dan F in midfield and Dave M both impressed for YMCA and striker Mattie K posed many problems for the home side without reward in the 1st half.

UNDER 14s:

YMCA 8 WARTON TYPHOONS 0

YMCA ran out comfortable winners against a plucky Warton outfit at Seafield Road last Sunday. Josh V opened his account for the season with their first goal when he latched onto a cross to strike home from close range. Harry H scored with a fierce free kick that was too hot for the Warton ‘keeper to handle to give YMCA a 2-0 half time lead. In the second half Jack C scored with a neat left foot shot before Oscar R added to the score with a rare header. The strong running Jon H helped himself to a couple of goals, Josh V scored his second and Adam L scored his first ever YMCA goal. Rob C produced an excellent display in midfield.

UNDER 12 GIRLS:

YMCA 9 WILPSHIRE 1

YMCA completed a comfortable victory to keep their title hopes well alive against Wilpshire at a warm and sunny Seafield Rd last Sunday. They went ahead on two minutes through Evie M and quickly doubled their lead when Evie added her second. A third goal followed with a long-range effort from Olivia T before a Siobhan F strike was deflected past the Wilpshire ‘keeper to further increase the lead. YMCA made at 5-0 at half time with the impressive Evie completing her hat-trick. In the second half strong running from the impressive Annie C created openings for further strikes by Stephanie V and Rebecca G (2) before another long range Olivia T effort completed the scoring and an excellent YMCA win.
