League leaders YMCA proved too strong for the visitors at a blustery Seafield Rd last Saturday. BJFF had the edge in the first half with the stiff breeze behind them but YMCA defended with great resilience and kept the scoreline to 0-0 at the break.
However, within minutes of the restart YMCA took the lead by way of an unfortunate defensive error by the visitors. YMCA never looked back after that and took total control of the game adding four more goals before the end. The industrious Kit G and the impressive Owen F both bagged pairs with Jamie B completing the scoring.

In the B game YMCA again faced the wind in the 1st half but they more than held their own and were 1-0 ahead at half time with a brilliant strike by Kai L after being set up by an astute pass from Josh C. Soon after the restart they doubled their lead when a Leyland corner kick swerved straight into the net. As YMCA continued to dictate proceedings Jordan K added a third goal with the busy Josh capping a hard working display by completing the scoring in the closing minutes.

This was a hard fought top of the table clash spoilt by the wind at Bispham last Saturday. The elements prevented both teams from playing to their full potential and it was no surprise when it remained 0-0 at half time. Carl K was again in fine form bossing the midfield with winger Conah B always a threat. The breakthrough came when Bishop’s excellent through ball found Dylan S who fired home superbly. Bishop then got on the scoresheet after breaking down the right and his shot sent the ball into the net helped by the wind to secure YMCA a deserved victory. The B game was another close contest with possession shared. It was YM however who took the lead when Bradley G’s through ball found Jordan W who did well to get a cross in which was turned in by Ryan W. Shane D impressed down the right delivering some excellent crosses which YMCA couldn’t convert and just before the break a Bradley G's header clipped the crossbar. In the second half, YMCA came close to increasing their lead with efforts from James R, Robert M and Cameron S but they couldn’t get the second goal and just as YMCA seemed to be cruising to victory a lapse in concentration enabled BJ to grab an equaliser with a great strike from the edge of the box.

YMCA 8 LYTHAM JUN 1

YMCA were always in control of this local derby at Seafield Rd last Sunday as they comfortably maintained their 100% record. They took an early lead through the impressive Tyler D and shortly afterwards it was 2-0 when Keiran S netted. The visitors then reduced the score but YMCA remained well in control and another strike from Tyler restored their two goal advantage before a Linus W goal made it 4-1 at the break. YMCA continued to dominate after the restart with the visitors having little answer to YMCA’s excellent teamwork. Two headed goals by Keiran completed his hat trick Tyler also claimed his 3rd goal of the game with Welsh bagging his 2nd. In this outstanding team display by YMCA Calvin Ross, who had made a 400-mile journey to play, impressed throughout with Daniel Lean also in excellent form.

UNDER 12s:

SOUTH SHORE 3 YMCA 1

The under 12’s suffered their first league defeat since September in this physical encounter at South Shore. They were soon behind when a loose ball was not cleared by the YMCA defence and Shore took full advantage. Ryan A was unlucky not to equalise with a fine solo effort and good keeping from Matthew M kept YMCA in the game. The home side extended their lead with a well taken header and poached a 3rd just before half time. YMCA were unlucky not to pull a goal back when Oliver D’s long range effort struck the bar and Fraser M had a shot well saved although the hard working Liam R scored a consolation effort late on. Keil F and William N impressed in the YMCA defence.

YMCA 6 LYTHAM JUN 0

YMCA produced a superb display of fluent football at Seafield Rd last Sunday which led to this comprehensive defeat of neighbours Lytham. They started very brightly and dominated the opening stages before a neat finish from Matthew N gave them the lead in the 10th minute. Within 5 minutes it was 2-0 when Matthew C fired home after being sent clear by a defence-splitting pass from Matthew N. Just before half time Jack H pounced on to a loose ball 20yds out and drove home low into the far corner to make it 3-0. YMCA continued to have the upper hand after the restart and increased their lead when Matthew N coolly slotted home a spot kick following a foul in the area. YMCA’s defence was rarely troubled with the visitors showing little threat and YMCA added two more goals through Dave R and Danny W to complete an emphatic victory. This was an outstanding display by YMCA for whom skipper James R impressed throughout with Danny F and Lewis A also notable.

UNDER 14s:

YMCA 1 SOUTH SHORE 3

YMCA started brightly and Alex G fired home a superb goal on the turn to put YM in the lead after just 2 minutes. Shore equalised soon after following some sloppy defending after which YMCA toiled without reward. They never looked likely to conquer a well-organised Shore outfit who defended stoutly and were always dangerous with speedy breakaways. It was not surprising when South Shore went into a deserved lead before half time and the second half saw a below-par YMCA concede a third goal. Despite some good possession YMCA, for whom Jonathan H was outstanding throughout, failed to break down a resolute visitors’ rearguard and they could have no complaints about this defeat

UNDER 15s:

THORNTON 2 YMCA 6

This was a gutsy and hard-earned victory by YMCA at Bourne Rd last Sunday. A promising start was rewarded in the 12th minute when the hard working Harry F gave them the lead. YMCA continued to produce some excellent football and the hard working Taz M bagged two goals to give them a 3-0 lead at the interval. It was Thornton who started the 2nd half the brighter and came right back in the game with two goals to reduce the score to 3-2. However, YMCA regained their earlier composure and went two goals clear again when James G scrambled the ball home from close range. A home player was then sent off following a reckless challenge before Joe VB fired home with a spectacular strike from 30 yards. YMCA’s excellent win was completed when James G grabbed his 2nd goal of the game with a neat finish following a fine flowing move. James P and Ashley J both gave solid displays in the heart of YMCA’s defence.

UNDER 17s:

FLEETWOOD GYM 1 YMCA JUN 5

YMCA made the long trip to Broadwater and returned with all three points after a sparkling second half display. The first half was a fairly scrappy affair with both teams struggling to adjust to the uneven pitch, but it was the hosts who led at the break with a goal mid way through the half. The half time team talk seemed to do the trick and YMCA started to take command of the game. Fifteen minutes into the second half saw three YMCA goals in as many minutes with firstly Matty R's fine individual finish, followed by a quick fire Adam W headed double, his second following some great work on the right by Jordan H. Jordan D and Morgan L completed the scoring. The excellent Matty R led by example, and Sam T also had a fine second half.
