UNDER 9s:B'POOL RAN WHITES A 1 YMCA A 4B'POOL RAN WHITES B 1 YMCA B 7YMCA coasted into the Colts Cup quarter finals with this aggregate 11-2 victory last Saturday. Jordan M gave them the lead in the A game finishing off a flowing attack and Owen F, who worked tirelessly in midfield, soon added a 2nd. Although the home side reduced lead YMCA added further goals through James H and the impressive Jordan K. YMCA were even more dominant in the B game with Josh C in outstanding form. He netted four brilliant goals with Leyland, Cocking and Fluss all on target also. UNDER 10s:SOY A 1 YMCA A 4SOY B 2 YMCA B 0YMCA started slowly in this Coulton Cup 1st round tie and were under pressure from the start but once they found their usual fluency they scored two excellent goals. The outstanding James R worked hard beating off 3 players before finding Conah B who made no mistake to give YMCA the lead. Within minutes the lead was doubled when the busy Jack C scored a deserved goal. In the second half Cameron S, who impressed throughout, turned the game by scoring twice, his first from a James R free kick and his second an excellent header from a Bishop cross. Just before the final whistle a lack of concentration gifted the home team a goal. ‘Keeper Ryan M was notable. Spirit made the tie an interesting one by taking a 2-0 lead into the break. YMCA had their chances with Bradley G and Jordan W both hitting the woodwork with Matthew S, who was inspirational for YMCA coming close with an excellent solo run. Shane D and Dylan S showed great pace and strength breaking through the Spirit defence on numerous occasions but couldn’t find the back of the net. The home team applied pressure but Robert M was strong at the back to ensure YMCA went into the quarter finals. Johnny A also had an excellent game. UNDER 11s:YMCA 4 SOUTH SHORE 0League leaders YMCA comfortably kept their unbeaten record intact at an overcast and breezy Seafield Rd last Sunday. They had the edge throughout the 1st half and strikes by Keiran S and Tyler D gave them a 2-0 lead at the break. YMCA remained well in control after the restart and a Linus W goal soon increased their lead. YMCA completed victory with a strike by Harvey R late in the game. Calvin R was outstanding throughout with Tyler D also impressive. UNDER 12s:ST ANNES FC 0 YMCA 5St Annes thwarted most YMCA attacks in the first half and made good use of the wind at a blustery Blackpool Rd North last Sunday. Jack W and Andrew W made some threatening runs but it was St Annes who came closest to scoring by hitting the bar from a corner. It remained 0-0 at half time but in the second half YMCA immediately pressured the home side. Andrew W opening the scoring when lobbed the goalkeeper from the edge of the box and minutes later it was 2-0 when Andrew W crossed the ball in to force an own goal. Jack G then put Ryan A through to score an excellent opportunist goal and Ben S, who came on as substitute, made an immediate impact with a long range goal from a wide angle and following a goal-mouth clearance, Liam R shot over the home ‘keeper to make it 5-0. Fraser M and Corry C were both excellent in YMCA’s midfield. UNDER 13s:YMCA 2 SOUTH SHORE 6YMCA got off to a poor start at Seafield Rd last Sunday by going behind after just 3 minutes and it became 2-0 for the visitors after only 10 minutes. A more competitive and determined Shore outfit controlled the remainder of the half and scored twice more to lead 4-0 at the break. With the stiff breeze behind them after the restart YMCA soon pulled a goal back when a Jamie A shot from the left hand touchline floated into the net but Shore soon restored their 4-goal advantage. Another long-range shot by the impressive Jamie A reduced YMCA’s deficit again but the visitors added 6th goal before the end. James R and Jack H both put in fine displays in a generally disappointing YMCA team display. UNDER 15:SOY 1 YMCA 10This game was transferred to Boundary Park at late notice but the late switch didn't affect YMCA who dominated the game throughout with an impressive team performance. Two early goals from Mark C put them on their way and Taz M soon added a third. Spirit pulled a goal back but Mark C completed his hat trick to give YMCA a 4-1 lead at half time. YMCA continued the 2nd half as they had ended the 1st by being in full control. Taz M netted twice more to complete his hat trick and Jack C got onto the scoresheet with a superb individual goal. YMCA wrapped up a convincing victory with further goals from James G, Eddie J and Harry F. Ashley J and Joe VB were both notable in what was YMCA 6th successive victory. UNDER 17s:YMCA JUN 1 FOXHALL 0This was a hard fought encounter between two of the leagues top teams at a fairly windy Seafield Road. Injury hit YMCA were dealt an early blow when Alex B limped off leaving them down to just the bare eleven. It was YMCA who controlled the first half but some excellent goalkeeping from the Foxhall keeper kept the match scoreless at half time. The second half followed a similar pattern with some indifferent finishing from YMCA and some dogged defending from the visitors. YMCA keeper Adam B was called into action to make a fine save from a Foxhall free kick. Half way through the second half, Jamie G was in the right place at the right time to finish off some YMCA pressure and score the games' only goal. Dan H, pushed into a striker’s role, impressed and both Dan S and Dalton S put in fine defensive performances. LYTHAM SEN 0 YMCA SEN 4YMCA adapted superbly to a small heavy pitch at Lytham last Sunday to run out comfortable winners against their local rivals. They just had the edge in the first half and reached the interval 1-0 in front with a strike by Luke A. Soon after the restart YMCA doubled their lead with Luke A notching his 2nd goal of the game and as YMCA continued to have the upper hand victory was completed with further goals by Ric S and Martin W with a thunderous 30yd drive. Mattie W impressed through with a tireless display. U12 GIRLS:YMCA 6 RADCLIFFE BOROUGH COLTS 0YMCA returned to winning ways, with an excellent performance against a hard working Radcliffe side. They started the game strongly and were ahead on seven minutes when Olivia T picked up a loose ball on the edge of the area, beat two players and netted from 15 yards with the help of a deflection. YMCA quickly added a second when after a slick period of passing Jenny H converted. A further three goals came before half time, two from Evie M, and it was Evie M's strong run down the right hand side that created the opportunity for Millie G to score YMCA's fifth with a fierce angled drive to put them 5-0 ahead.
