Traditional Scottish industries in decline (pt 3/3)

Description

The rising cost of raw materials in the 1950s hit Scottish manufacturers hard. Foreign competitors were able to source raw materials more cheaply and therefore sell their goods at cheaper prices. Changes in fashion and culture in the 1960s saw a fall in demand for traditional textiles such as tweed.
