8 Thomas Johansson

DOB:24.03.1975
Nationality:Swedish
World Ranking:
Previous Wimbledon results:
2001 ::second round
2000 ::fourth round
1999 ::second round
1998 ::third round

Johansson stunned the tennis world by beating Marat Safin to win the Australian Open at the beginning of the year.

Up until his win in Melbourne, the Swede had been seen as a top quality journeyman - decent enough to get a seeding but unlikely to ever win anything big.

And while it would be harsh to call his Grand Slam win a fluke, he is unlikely ever to repeat it.

But after another poor season on the clay, the 27-year-old will be be grateful just to put his feet onto a sounder surface.
