18 Sjeng Schalken

DOB:08.09.1976
Nationality:Dutch
World Ranking:31
Previous Wimbledon results:
2001 ::second round
2000 ::first round
1999 ::third round
1998 ::first round

Schalken is still to get past the third round of any Grand Slam, despite being a solid performer on the tour.

He has picked up six titles - but none this year, with his best 2002 showing a couple of quarter-final spots in Milan and Estoril.

The powerful Dutchman has shown good form in patches over the last few seasons, but his ranking has gone backwards this year.

He may not last that long at Wimbledon in terms of rounds but history suggests that time-wise he is likely to outstay most.

In 1999, he lost to Jim Courier, going down 13-11 in the fifth set.

And the following year, he lost 20-18 in the fifth to Mark Philippoussis, the longest final set in Wimbledon history.
