23 Greg Rusedski

DOB:06.09.1973
Nationality:British
World Ranking:38
Previous Wimbledon results:
2001 ::fourth round
2000 ::first round
1999 ::fourth round
1998 ::first round

A bright start to the year, which included winning his 11th tour title in Auckland, has fizzled out after a neck injury wrecked his clay season.

But ever positive, Rusedski will no doubt see this as allowing him to prepare better for his favourite surface - grass.

While Rusedski still has the weapons - namely his record-breaking serve - to win a big event, the 28-year-old has surely now left it too late to claim his first Grand Slam title.

He came agonisingly close, reaching the final of the US Open in 1997, a run which propelled him to a career-high world ranking of four.

Surprisingly, Rusedski has just one quarter-final appearance to show for his visits to Wimbledon.

After a humiliating first round defeat to 'serial loser' Vince Spadea in 2000, Rusedski lost to an inspired Goran Ivanisevic in last year's fourth round.
