Wycombe groundshare blocked
Wycombe Wanderers' Adams Park
Adams Park needs permission for Wasps to play
Wycombe Wanderers will appeal against a council's refusal to allow rugby union club Wasps to share their ground.

Bringing Wasps to Adams Park would generate much-needed income for the Second Division side.

They could be set to lose 240,000 in television revenue as a result of the collapse of ITV Digital.

But Wycombe have been told by the local council that they cannot invite Wasps to groundshare without planning permission.

Wasps are still absolutely determined to play rugby here
Wycombe chief executive Simon Monkman
However, chief executive Simon Monkman remained confident the deal will eventually be approved.

He said: "Wasps are still absolutely determined to play rugby here and we are still absolutely determined to have them here.

"We will continue to make progress, I hope."

And a council spokesman added: "We have not said `no' to Wycombe Wanderers.

"We are simply saying that, under the current conditions, rugby cannot be played at Adams Park without planning permission.

"We would gladly consider that on receipt of an application."

Wasps are set to share with Harlequins until they secure permission for the move.
