| Thursday, 13 February, 2003, 22:49 GMT Luton 1-0 Wycombe Luton completed their second victory of the season over Wycombe thanks to Matthew Spring. The midfielder rifled home for the second game in succession, converting a close-range chance after 57 minutes following Tony Thorpe's skilful build-up. After a scrappy, bad-tempered start in which five players were booked, Luton took control and never looked in danger of finishing the game with less than three points. The winning margin could have been wider but goalkeeper Frank Talia made fine saves to deny Emmerson Boyce and Steve Howard on two occasions. Ahmet Brkovic also wasted a good chance at the near post. Wycombe's only shot on target came in the second half with Carl Emberson diving to hold Steve Brown's effort. Luton: Emberson, Boyce, Neilson, Coyne, Kimble, Spring, Nicholls, Robinson, Hughes, Thorpe, Howard. Subs: Ovendale, Fotiadis, Crowe, Brkovic, Hillier. Wycombe: Talia, Thomson, Rogers, Johnson, Senda, Ryan, Bulman, Simpson, Brown, Faulconbridge, Harris. Subs: Currie, Roberts, Simpemba, Lee, Cook. Referee: C Wilkes (Gloucestershire) |
