Denney backs Wycombe move
Captain Mark Denney says the club must come first
Captain Mark Denney says the club must come first
By BBC Sport Online's Jonathon Moore

Wasps captain Mark Denney has suggested that any potential move away from Loftus Road could be good for the club.

Wasps currently ground-share with Queens Park Rangers in west London.

But that agreement could come to an end next season, if QPR agree to allow Fulham - whose ground is set to undergo redevelopment - use of their facilities.

Should Wasps move away from London, they could well find themselves a new home at Wycombe.

We have a god catchment area in the Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire areas
Wasps captain Mark Denney
Wanderers chairman Ivor Beeks confirmed, last month, that his club have been approached by the Premiership strugglers to sound out the possibility of a ground-share.

Denney admitted that the players would miss the facilities at Loftus Road, but suggested the club would succeed wherever they are forced to relocate.

"Obviously there's talk about the club going up to Wycombe," Denney told BBC Sport Online.

"The trouble is we've built up quite a good fan base at Loftus Road.

"It's a great place to be, it's got a great surface and great facilities.

"But we also have a good catchment area in the Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire areas, so maybe moving up there will good for the club."

I think a Wasps team back to full fitness is a frightening sight
Mark Denney
Denney, however, is keen not to look too far ahead.

Wasps are currently languishing at the bottom of the Zurich Premiership and the 26-year-old's first priority is helping the club stave off relegation.

"As a Wasps player I'm just concentrating on keeping the club in the Premiership," he said.

"I think a Wasps team back to full fitness is a frightening sight, and we've got a number of quality players coming back.

"I still think we can qualify for Europe, we've just got to take every game as it comes.

"But the future looks bright for London Wasps at the moment"
