Huddersfield Town chairman David Taylor said he would only consider a share option to raise funds as a "last resort".

Taylor is in ongoing talks with potential investors to secure a rescue package for the club, who are also hoping to hold talks with the PFA.

But he said if the negotiations prove unsuccessful he could be forced into a share option.

"I am waiting to hear back from the investors I am negotiating with, and I should know more by the end of this week," he told the club's website.

"If I have no joy with the potential investors that I'm in negotiations with then, purely as a last resort, we will have a 1919 effort."

Town avoided collapse in 1919 when the cash-strapped club decided on a share option to raise funds.
