Forest Green 2-0 Burton

Ten-man Burton produced a fantastic battling performance but were beaten by two late goals at Forest Green.

The home side had the best of the early chances and Ben Cleverley was denied a stunning goal direct from a corner by an equally impressive save from Lee Camp.

Burton were down to 10 men after 25 minutes when Craig Dudley was sent off for his second bookable offence.

The striker was booked in the 23rd minute for a foul on Alex Meechan and was sent off just two minutes later after an incident with Martin Foster.

Camp had to be at his best to deny Foster from 25 yards just after the half-hour mark, while Steve Perrin produced a fantastic save at the other end to parry away Stuart Reddington's effort.

The second half saw both sides spurn chances to take the lead. Andy Sinton's 20-yard shot flew just over the bar, while Kayode Odejayi headed wide from just six yards out for the home side.

Forest Green finally broke Burton's resolve with just five minutes to go, Rob Cook heading past Camp from a Kevin Langan cross, and Steve Tweddle made it two in injury-time with a right-foot shot.

Forest Green: Perrin, Matthew Russell, Richardson, Jones, Jenkins, Cleverley, Langan, Owers, Foster, Meechan, Odejayi. Subs: Futcher, Cook, Giannangelo, Cowe, Tweddle.

Burton Albion: Camp, Henshaw, Reddington, Wassall, Talbot, Dudley, Stride, Clough, Sinton, Ducros, Moore. Subs: Anderson, Webster, Hoyle, Robinson, Gough.

Referee: S Rubery (Ilford).
