Morecambe snatched a vital point at the death to keep their promotion play-off hopes alive with a draw against high-flying Chester.

The home side dominated for much of the game but it looked as though Mark Wright`s men would take the points until Adriano Rigoglioso`s last-minute effort.

Robert Talbot should have put the home side a goal up when, after 33 minutes, he headed wide from six yards when it seemed easier to score.

Gary Thompson had an opportunity for the hosts with a header but it was blocked by Phil Bolland and cleared to safety.

Morecambe started the brighter in the second period with the ever-dangerous Rigoglioso proving a constant threat.

But when Chester brought on Michael Twiss for Ryan Sugden it paid instant dividends and, against the run of play, Twiss drove a left-foot shot into the back of the net from 18 yards after a Darryl Clare pass.

Morecambe tried to hit back with long-range efforts from David Perkins and Michael Stringfellow but it was Rigoglioso who came to their rescue with a goal in the last minute of the match to earn the home side a draw.
