Sam Sodje scored his fifth goal of the season as Margate secured their fifth away victory of the season at Barnet.

The hosts began well with Junior Agogo forcing Margate goalkeeper Phillip Smith into an early save before Jason Soloman headed a Daniel Brown cross over the top.

Agogo scuffed another shot wide before Smith made an excellent save to tip Mark Gower's shot around the post after 13 minutes.

Sodje had the first opportunity for the visitors but his effort following a corner was saved by Danny Naisbitt and the goalkeeper made another good stop to keep out Leon Braithwaite's header.

Smith tipped Neil Midgley's right-foot shot over the crossbar at the other end as the interval approached but it was the visitors who finally broke the deadlock after 53 minutes.

Sodje was the man who scored it when he headed the ball into the roof of the net following Terry McFlynn's corner.

Barnet made a change with Frazer Toms replacing Wayne Purser after an hour and John Doolan then drilled a right-foot shot wide.

Agogo and Gower both came close to levelling but Margate held on despite some desperate defending.
