Gravesend closed the gap on Woking near the foot of the Conference table to just one point with a crucial victory.

They twice lost the lead before two goals in three minutes settled the issue late in the second half.

The result extended Woking's remarkable sequence of alternate victories and defeats to 12 games and they remain very much in the relegation picture.

Woking's Robert Burch had a busy afternoon and he had already saved a 25-yard effort from Jimmy Jackson before he was beaten in the 12th minute when Che Stadhart ran on to Mark Bentley's pass to hit a low right-foot shot into the net.

Burch tipped a Stadhart volley over the top and dived to turn a header from the same player round the post before Woking equalised in the 51st minute, Warren Patmore striking a right-foot shot past Paul Wilkerson.

Stadhart ran on to Justin Skinner's pass to grab his second and restore Gravesend's lead after 63 minutes before Chris Collins volleyed the equaliser within a minute.

With both sides pressing for the winner, Nick Burton headed Gravesend in front after 77 minutes and two minutes later Mark Bentley sealed it with another header.
