| Tuesday, 12 November, 2002, 22:27 GMT Cheltenham 1-2 Wycombe Lewis Cook's golden-goal effort gave Wycombe victory against Cheltenham at Whaddon Road. The winger collected a pass from Dannie Bulman and drilled a shot past Robins keeper Shane Higgs in the ninth minute of extra time. Wycombe had looked like booking their place in the next round when Bulman gave them a fortuitous 79th-minute lead. The battling midfielder's deflected shot deceived keeper Higgs. But the home side hit back, forcing the game into extra time when new signing Richard Forsyth levelled the scores with a diving header from a Paul Brayson cross two minutes into injury time. Wycombe's Martin Taylor was by far the busier keeper early on. He tipped a Grant McCann free-kick around the post after 41 minutes, before saving a long-range thunderbolt from Neil Howarth midway through the second half. Cheltenham: Higgs, Howarth, Brough, Mike Duff, McCann, Devaney, Yates, Forsyth, McAuley, Brayson, Spencer. Subs: Book, Griffin, Milton, Alsop, Williams. Wycombe: Taylor, Senda, Thomson, McCarthy, Vinnicombe, Currie, Simpson, Bulman, Cook, Faulconbridge, Harris. Subs: Ryan, Rammell, Brown, Talia, Rogers. Referee: G Hegley (Hertfordshire). |
