Leigh RMI 3-4 Wrexham
All the action from the LDV Vans Trophy
A golden goal winner from striker Lee Jones gave Wrexham a thrilling 4-3 win over Leigh RMI in their LDV Vans Trophy northern section second-round clash at Hilton Park.

Leigh stunned the Football League club with a well-taken goal from Ged Kielty in the sixth minute.

Both teams created chances during a frenetic period of play but it was the Conference club who doubled their advantage.

Dino Maamria collected the ball on the edge of the penalty area and drilled home a fierce shot.

However, Wrexham were thrown a lifeline in the 40th minute when highly rated striker Lee Trundle fired home from 18 yards.

The Welsh club then started to control the game and they were awarded a penalty just two minutes later when Neil Fitzhenry handled the ball in the area.

Jones coolly stepped up to blast the ball into the top left-hand corner.

Leigh responded well in the second half and Kielty restored their lead with a neat header from Stuart Whittaker's centre.

But Wrexham were level within two minutes when Carlos Edwards drilled home a shot from 18 yards.

The game went to extra time but only 107 seconds had been played when Jones struck for the second time to score the golden goal and clinch victory for Wrexham.
