Although a steady performer in singles, Lisa Raymond is principally renowned for her achievements in doubles.
Her performance in this year's French Open was a prime example as she exited the singles event in the second round but went on to win the mixed doubles event with fellow American Michael Bryan.
It was her seventh Grand Slam title, to add to her incredible 38 doubles titles overall.
But Raymond has also picked up four singles trophies in her career.
Her current world ranking owes much to consecutive titles at Memphis - but earlier this year she made the semi-finals of a high-quality Tokyo event by beating Jelena Dokic.
Raymond's attacking game is best-suited to both hard and grass courts and she has had a solid run into the US Open, reaching the quarter-finals in Stanford and San Diego.
