The world number three in doubles, Suarez is also a handy singles exponent.
The Argentine is happiest on clay, reaching the French Open quarter-finals last year, but she surprisingly advanced to the fourth round of Wimbledon this season proving her all-court ability.
She and Spanish partner Virginia Ruano-Pascual, the WTA team of 2002, will defend their title in the US Open doubles and Suarez will hope to go beyond the third round for the first time in her career.
Her singles form this season has been patchy but she impressed in Sarasota in April when she beat top seed Jelena Dokic in the first round before reaching the last eight.
In August, she registered her 300th career match win and followed that with a semi-final appearance in Toronto, picking up a number of notable scalps along the way.
