Old Albanians launch an attack from a scrum |
Jersey beat their closest rivals Old Albanians on Saturday to increase their lead at the top of the National Three South East table to 12 points. The only try of the game came midway through the first-half when Jersey's Ed Dawson ran 30 yards to touchdown. The win brought the visitors' run of nine consecutive wins to an end. Jersey finished the match three players short, with two in the sin-bin, and had to resist severe pressure in the latter stages of the second half.
Jersey coach Ben Harvey told BBC Jersey: "It was always going to be a tight game, their defensive record away from home speaks for itself. "When we worked hard up front, we realised we were up against a big pack, but our boys were terrific. "We hung on in there and it was a great victory." Old Albanians coach Mark Langley told BBC Jersey: "Jersey deserve to win the league. "They'll win the league and we'll finish second, so we'll meet again in the higher division next season."
