Paves tries to blast through the Moseley defence
The game was patchy, with individual and team brilliance in parts, but letting ourselves down with basic handling errors and poor passing in others

Welcome back one and all. I hope you've all enjoyed the fabulous weather the South West has been blessed with over the last few days, shame it had to end!

Over the weekend we were back up to Newbury to settle some unfinished business. For those supporters who made the long journey in December, I hope the return was made worthwhile.

After a hesitant start by us, Newbury took an early three-point lead and could have made it six but for a poor penalty attempt which let us off the hook. Late into the first half we managed to hit our stride and scored a try. This settled the nerves and we started playing some flowing rugby.

The game was patchy, with individual and team brilliance in parts, but letting ourselves down with basic handling errors and poor passing in others. However, we will take the five points away from home, which is another step forward to achieving our aim of finishing in the top four.

This week saw the sun shining brightly on the training field as we ran out for our first training session. The session was going along well as we moved onto the contact component. The hits started flying in with the boys keen to impress for the weekend.

But two rather 'rotund' individuals, Sam Heard and Scott Franklin, took battling for tighthead position one step further. As Scott carried the ball and gathered up a head of steam, Sam spotted him coming and headed straight for him.

One can only describe the scene as two giant walruses coming together in one almighty clash. After the dust had settled the two massive animals then proceeded to wallow on the ground as if they had been fighting over a female on the beach. It was a sight to behold.

Bedford pose a different challenge for the coming weekend. Open running rugby is their choice of attack and their position in the league proves this is a winning formula.

Sunday is going to be a fantastic day celebrating St Pirrans festival. There will be an impressive array of activities for the supporters, including a bucking bronco and much more.
