Davey is upset at Pirates reports

Brett Davey
Davey has thanked predecessor Mark Hewitt for bringing him to the club

Cornish Pirates acting head coach Brett Davey is unhappy at the way some of the press have treated his club.

His comments come at the end of a tough week for the club after head coach Mark Hewitt was sacked on Wednesday.

"I don't think the week has been helped by people writing things down that they shouldn't have been writing," he told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"I just felt a little bit disappointed that some of the stuff that was written wasn't quite factual."

But Davey, who was pleased with how his side responded with a 37-26 win over Moseley on Saturday, paid tribute to the man he has replaced.

"I want to thank Mark because Mark brought me to the Pirates and I was pretty disappointed that he left. I've got a lot to thank him for," he said.
