Trophy loss 'humiliates' Hewitt

Cornish Pirates head coach Mark Hewitt said his team's 39-8 National Trophy defeat at Nottingham was "humiliating".

The Pirates defence made a number of mistakes as Nottingham cruised to victory to set up a quarter-final tie at Mounts Bay.

"It's a pretty humiliating experience coming up here and getting beaten," Hewitt told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"We were second best in everything today and I think the scoreboard reflects that."

Hewitt continued: "We came up here last time and our scrummage didn't function, this time our lineout was poor.

"We've under-pitched loads of throws, our option taking was poor, and if you've got no first phase ball its hard to play any rugby," he added.
