Dan Hawkes kicked two penalties for Bay in their win over London Scottish |
Mounts Bay's National Trophy quarter-final with Nottingham will help ease the club's financial woes according to head coach Adrian Bick. Bay host the National One side on Saturday knowing that the pressures of the economic downturn have threatened the Penzance-based club's future. "It's another home gate," Bick told BBC Radio Cornwall. "With the well-documented financial problems it's going to help matters off the field as well as on it," he added. Bay had a hard-fought 6-5 win over runaway National Three South leaders London Scottish in the last round. They face a Nottingham side who knocked out Bay's landlords Cornish Pirates two weeks ago, ending the position of head coach Mark Hewitt in the process. "It's all about retaining National Two status, but also about retaining the club, so another home gate and another decent crowd will be a massive boost for us financially," Bick added.
