Exeter scraped into the quarter-finals of the National Trophy with a one point win over Bedford Blues at Sandy Park. The Chiefs were struggling at half-time as Bedford led 11-6 following a try from right wing Will Harries. But fly-half Gareth Steenson came to the rescue with four penalties to squeeze Exeter in front. The Irish goalkicker put over the winning kick from 40 metres with 70 seconds left of normal time, setting up an away tie at Doncaster Knights.
