Guernsey's Alice Loveridge has won her opening game in the plate of the table tennis mixed event at the Youth Olympics in Singapore. Loveridge and team-mate Leonardo Mutti are representing Europe 3 in the event. The pair lost two of their three games in the first stage on Tuesday, but fought back to beat Intercontinental 3 in the plate on Wednesday. Loveridge won her singles game against Lily Phan 3-2, while Mutti beat Luis Mejia 3-0 in his game. In stage one of the draw on Tuesday, the 16-year-old Sarnian and Mutti beat Africa 2 before suffering defeats to Europe 1 and Europe 4. That put the pair into the plate competition of the draw, where they opened with a 2-0 win over Intercontinental 3. Loveridge and Mutti ended stage two of the competition on Wednesday afternoon with a 2-1 against the Pan America 2 team of Pablo Saragovi and Carelyn Cordero.
