Guernsey table tennis player Alice Loveridge will launch her attempt to qualify for the 2010 Singapore Youth Olympics at the start of February. Loveridge is the only British player to have made it through to qualifying, which begins in Bahrain on 6 February. Further qualifying events will follow in Egypt and Italy. The 15-year-old faces stiff competition to win a place in Singapore, with only 12 berths remaining out of a possible 32 in the table tennis competition. The 2010 Youth Olympics are scheduled to take place in Singapore from 14-26 August.
