Guernsey table tennis player Alice Loveridge has enjoyed a strong start in round one of the mixed team event at the Youth Olympics in Singapore. The 16-year-old Sarnian and European teammate Leonardo Mutti beat the African pair of Jolie Mafuta Ivoso and Li Kam Wa 3-0. Loveridge beat Ivoso 3-0 in the singles, while Mutti also won his singles mach in straight games. In the doubles, the pair won 3-1 to secure a comfortable overall victory. Loveridge secured first place in the singles plate competition at the Youth Olympics on Sunday. The teenager missed out on a place in the last 16, but her victory in the plate put her 17th overall.
