Simpson will play for Guernsey at the Commonwealth Games

Guernsey's Chris Simpson has received a bye into the second round of the Rowe British Squash Grand Prix after his opponent withdrew through illness.

Simpson's opponent, number one seed Nick Matthew, pulled out two hours before the match after suffering a heavy fever the night before.

Simpson will now play India's Saurav Ghosal (14th seed) in the second round on Thursday afternoon.

Ghosal beat England's Chris Ryder in round one on Wednesday.
