Watson won the US Junior Open in 2009

Guernsey's Heather Watson has narrowly missed out on a place in the main draw of the Bell Challenge in Canada after losing in the final qualifying round.

Watson, who is number 215 in the world, went out in straight sets to French player Stephanie Foretz Gacon.

The 29-year-old, who is ranked 182 in the world, beat Watson 6-1 6-1.

In the earlier qualifying rounds, Watson had beaten both Amra Sadikovic and her training partner, American Madison Brengle.
