Simpson will play at the World Open in Saudi Arabia

Guernsey squash star Chris Simpson has missed out on a place at the Kuwait Open after losing 3-2 to Egypt's Ali Anwar Reda in qualifying.

Simpson took the first game 11-9 but was pegged back by Anwar Reda in the second game.

The Guernseyman moved back into the lead again in the third set, taking it comfortably by 11-5.

But Anwar Reda then edged out Simpson in each of the last two games, narrowly winning 12-10 in the fifth.

Despite not qualifying for the Kuwait Open, Simpson has secured a berth at the World Open in Saudi Arabia in December after he defeated the American Chris Gordon in straight games earlier in the week.
