Guernsey's sports clubs are being handed the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the UNESCO Anti-Doping Code for Sport. The code has been adopted by 130 governments around the world since being introduced in 2005. The UK Anti-Doping team will be in Guernsey on Saturday at Les Cotils, giving a seminar on the code. The seminar is intended to help local sports groups understand the role they play in preventing misuse of drugs. Guernsey Sports Commission chairman Stuart Falla said: "If you're taking sport seriously then you have to take drugs in sport seriously as well. "Sports administrators, coaches and trainers need to understand what is expected of them and so the seminar that we're holding on Saturday is there to help them understand. "This is a very serious issue and while we may like to think that Guernsey is, in some way, protected from this problem, it is the responsibility of sporting bodies and organisations to ensure that they are fully-informed about the misuse of performance enhancing drugs."
