Steve Thornton's side are challenging at the top of the table

The Belfast Giants enjoyed a 3-1 away win over Edinburgh Capitals in Sunday night's Elite League game to move to the top of the table.

Brandon Benedict opened the scoring, Evan Cheverie made it 2-0 and then Mark Smith pulled one back but Pat Bateman made it 3-1 late in the game.

The victory completed a good weekend for Belfast as they had defeated Newcastle Vipers 11-3 on Friday night.

Steve Thornton's side next face Cardiff away from home on Wednesday night.

They then play host to Coventry in a crucial fixture at the Odyssey Arena next Saturday evening.
