Colin Shields celebrates after scoring for the Giants on Saturday night

The Belfast Giants completed a weekend win double by beating Newcastle Vipers 8-0 away from home in Sunday night's Elite League match.

Jeff Szwez grabbed a treble, with Craig Peacock (2), Mike Jacobsen, Colin Shields and Brandon Benedict also on the scoresheet for the Giants.

The Giants had boosted their title hopes with an 3-1 success over Cardiff Devils at the Odyssey on Saturday.

Two Jeff Szwez goals and one from Colin Shields helped them to victory.

Matt Miller pulled a goal back for the Devils.

Steve Thornton's side had suffered two defeats on the previous weekend.
