Jonathan Rea finished third in Sunday's World Supersport round at Donington.

The Hannspree Ten Kate Honda rider from Ballyclare came home behind race winner Josh Brookes and second-placed man, series leader Andrew Pitt.

Pitt increases his lead over Rea in the championship standings by a couple of points with three rounds still to go.

Toomebridge rider Eugene Laverty was 12th in his first ride for the official Yamaha World Supersport team where he has replaced the injured Fabien Foret.

"I'll take third today because I didn't really have enough to match the two guys in front of me," said Rea after the race.

"The team has been fantastic with all the wet weather this weekend and the bike was brilliant.

"I was trying to win the race as much for my good friend Craig Jones, who was killed at Brands Hatch recently, as I was for myself, and maybe that was the problem."
