Jonathan Rea is on top form after successive championship wins

Jonathan Rea has claimed a second straight World Supersport victory after winning Sunday's round at Brands Hatch.

The Ballyclare man was riding his HannSpree Ten Kate Honda machine.

The race was marred by a heavy crash involving Craig Jones and the English rider later died in hospital from the serious head injuries he sustained.

Rea lies second in the series on 117 points, 32 points behind Pitt, and four points ahead of Parkes, ahead of the next round at Donington on 7 September.

The local rider secured his maiden success in the championship a fortnight ago with victory at Brno in the Czech Republic.

Speaking before hearing of the news of his friend Jones' death, Rea said: "The team and I worked hard all weekend to get a good package together with the bike and we've enjoyed being on it the whole time.

"It's great to race in front of a British crowd again and I hope they enjoyed it."
