Renault have upped the ante for 2005 by insisting that they expect to pick up several wins and compete for the title.
Team boss Flavio Briatore admitted his decision to stop development of the car too early saw them lose second place to BAR in the constructors' standings.
But hopes are high that the new R25 has the increased engine power needed to take the fight to champions Ferrari.
In Fernando Alonso and new team-mate Giancarlo Fisichella they have a good combination of youth and experience.
Highly-rated Spaniard Alonso feels it is time to make the step up after he finished fourth overall last season.
And Italian Fisichella finally has the chance to translate his impressive reputation into real results following his move from Sauber.
Renault had no answer to Ferrari's pace last season.
They vied with BAR for the honour of F1's second best car - until the debut of the new McLaren.
And Trulli took a brilliant win in Monaco as he became the only man apart from McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen to beat Ferrari in 2004.
But they will hope the R25 hits the ground running after a low-key end to an otherwise impressive year.
