Mark Webber marked himself out as a star of the future with some impressive displays for Jaguar last season. His progress has stalled with Jaguar's problems, but that has reflected badly on his team rather than Webber himself.
Quick, focused, bright and media-savvy, Webber has also won admirers for his laid-back attitude away from the track.
His team-mates' failings have made it hard to definitively gauge his potential, but Webber is expected to go well in a Williams-BMW next season.
Webber was snapped up by Jaguar after some strong, mature drives in his debut season with Minardi in 2002.
He responded by putting in some impressive displays in one-lap qualifying.
And, when the car was reliable, he produced some strong, consistent drives - picking up 17 of Jaguar's 18 points during the course of the season.
While rookie Pizzonia struggled, Webber was the perfect advert for his team - straightforward, no-nonsense and effective.
He has had little trouble keeping inexperienced new team-mate Christian Klien in the shade in 2004. Next season, his first in a top team, will provide a true gauge of his considerable potential.
