Kimi Raikkonen has been tipped as a future world champion for some time and many believed this could be the year the predictions come true.

But McLaren's car was a let-down for the first half of the season, and the Finn had to adjust to a struggle.

His basic talent remains, however - as he proved with a brilliant win in Belgium, reviving memories of Raikkonen coming to close to the title in 2003.

Fast in qualifying and reliable in a race, he is close to the full package.

He still, though, has a minor weakness in his race driving.

Raikkonen has yet to prove he can drive on the limit on every lap of every race.

It is a weakness that was also obvious in Mika Hakkinen, Raikkonen's predecessor, from time to time - but it is also one shared by every driver bar Michael Schumacher and Renault's Fernando Alonso.

Otherwise, Raikkonen has it all, and he ensured the season was not a write-off with that stunning victory Spa, where he easily held off everything Michael Schumacher could throw at him.

He is quick, aggressive and strong in defence, and as super-cool as they come - and there seems little danger of him cracking under the weight of expectations.
