Felipe Massa has done a reasonable job this season of rebuilding a reputation that was as battered as his Sauber cars by the end of 2002.

He still looks like an accident waiting to happen at every corner; the change has been that he has tended to avoid the crashes actually happening.

Clearly a year test-driving for Ferrari in 2003 did him some good.

Less positively, after a strong start, Massa has been comprehensively outpaced by team-mate Giancarlo Fisichella.
