Sauber are Formula One's Charlton - safely ensconsed in mid-table and in no real danger of moving up or down. They have had a comparatively strong year in 2004 - thanks largely to a series of brilliant drives by lead driver Giancarlo Fisichella.
Sauber have benefited more than usual this season from their close links with Ferrari, whose engines they use.
This year, the car looked to have come over wholesale from Maranello, too, perhaps explaining its pace.
And, running against the habit of a decade, Sauber have even managed to introduce some worthwhile developments as well.
Clearly their new wind tunnel - reputedly the most advanced in F1 - is having some benefit.
