Giancarlo Fisichella's time at the top of Formula One appears to be over.

Fast, stylish and experienced, he was a canny choice for Force India, but it cannot be easy for him to be at the back of the grid week-in, week-out.

His time at Renault finally confirmed that Fisichella lacks the bullet-proof mentality to make it to the very top.

But Fisichella expected a better season than this, and you have to wonder how long he can find the motivation to keep going when he is so far from the front.
