Walker finished fifth overall in the 2009 World Series for Renault |
James Walker has finished the 2009 Formula Renault campaign in fifth place after a disappointing end to the season at the Motorland Aragon track in Spain. The Jersey driver finished 18th in the first race and then ninth, despite setting the fastest lap of the race. The results meant Walker fell from third to fifth in the Championship. Walker said: "I'm very disappointed with that, but what can you do from 18th, other than get your head down and go for it." | I'll now head home and continue the hard work we have been doing to put together my race programme for 2010. It's all systems go from here |
Walker added: "I had a lot of fun out there today and managed to get all the way up to ninth and take fastest lap along the way. I know it hasn't been the perfect weekend but it came good in the end." Walker will now be working to find a drive in F1 for next year. He has been approached by new team Manor GP but must find £3m in order to start. "I'll now head home and continue the hard work we have been doing to put together my race programme for 2010. It's all systems go from here," he said.
