Walker stays third despite crash

Jersey's James Walker held on to third place in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series, despite crashing out in the second race in Hungary.

Race one saw Walker sixth on the grid, but a strong start helped him move up to fourth by the chequered flag.

In race two, Walker was also in fourth, but collided with the crash barrier during his pit stop.

"I just overcooked it on the way in, spun and that was it," the 25-year-old told BBC Radio Jersey.

"But the championship leaders didn't really get good results either, so I think we've actually come away again with being quite lucky."

The next round of the series takes place at Silverstone on the first weekend in July, when Walker will be hoping to put the disappointment of Hungary behind him.

"You have bad days like today," he said. "But I'm sure we're going to have two or three very good days at Silverstone and I think it's going to be great fun."
