Cambridge claims Seniors Classic

Cambridge won the Jersey Seniors Classic again after seven-year wait

Jamaica's Delroy Cambridge won his second Jersey Seniors Classic at La Moye on Sunday.

Cambridge defeated Australian Mike Clayton at the third sudden-death play-off hole after both players finished on nine under in regulation play.

The 59-year-old last won the tournament in 2002 and he said he enjoyed winning again in Jersey.

"It's my eighth year I've been here and I've got to know almost everybody, so it's fun to win here," he said.

"I haven't played that well over the past couple of years, but this year it felt a little bit different, I was in a good zone."

Clayton was disappointed over losing in the play-off, but was pleased with his form.

"I shot a great first round and played pretty well all week, and just missed that putt at the end, but that's golf I guess," he said.

Jersey resident Ian Woosnam had a frustrating final day, shooting 73 and finished tied in 17th place.
